Motion Design / 2025

Tools [ Illustrator, Photoshop ]
short animated film about ADHD, distraction, and the overwhelming attempt to hold onto one thought while many others open at once. The project began with the word “chess”. I was drawn to the way every move on the board immediately creates a chain of possible next moves - a structure that felt close to the way my mind works with ADHD. What began as a study of chess became a personal exploration of focus, mental overload, self-interruption, and the fragile attempt to stay with one thought.
The film follows the moment when control starts to slip,
and the mind begins playing several games at once.

Developing the Visual Language
I wanted the typographic language to reflect the experience of ADHD - unstable, shifting, and constantly interrupting itself. The letters change shape, weight, and rhythm throughout the film, creating a sense of movement even before they are animated.
The visual research focused on extreme forms, sharp contrasts, and a limited black-and-white palette inspired by chess. As the project developed, the chess pieces became less literal and turned into a set of graphic icons: abstract, rigid, and slightly distorted. Together with the typography, they helped build a visual system that feels controlled on the surface, but restless underneath.
Storyboard Development
The storyboard changed throughout the process as the film’s rhythm became clearer. Early versions were used to test the narrative structure, while later versions focused on timing, transitions, and the emotional build-up of the film.
