Happy Place


Opening Titles/ Stop Motion / 2026

An alternative opening sequence for the Israeli series Happy Place, a drama-comedy that presents life’s crises and small humiliations honestly, without beautifying or filtering them.
I used a minimal stop-motion approach with handmade paper letters that are gradually revealed, wrinkled, and distorted. The contrast between the upbeat Israeli music and the damaged title creates an ironic dissonance — reflecting a show that is light and funny, but never pretends life is prettier than it is.

Developing the Visual Language
The visual language is built from a precise use of typography, material, and negative space. I treated the Hebrew letters as physical compositions, using their inner spaces, folds, tears, and scale shifts to create movement and tension within each frame.
The contrast between small, clean credits and large damaged paper forms became a key design decision, balancing readability with texture and abstraction. The raw brown-yellow paper was chosen for its tactile, unpolished quality — a material that feels honest, fragile, and slightly worn, in line with the tone of the series.
Process & Tests
The tests focused mainly on color and music, exploring what would best express the contrast between the cheerful title and the damaged material on screen. The final choice of raw brown-yellow paper and upbeat Israeli music created the tone I was looking for: warm, minimal, and slightly ironic.
